The 2 ‘sexually suggestive’ adverts Ezekiel Mutua wants banned from Radio and TV

Too hot for TV?

Ezekiel Mutua wants the scrapping off of two radio and TV adverts; a Fresh Fri cooking oil ad and a Marie Stopes advert in its latest project #KFCBbansDirtyAds.

The KFCB Boss claimed that the Fresh Fri advert which is laden with sexual innuendos was found guilty of airing during the watershed period.

The Marie Stopes advert was banned for ‘promoting abortion’ contrary to Article 26 (4) of the Constitution of Kenya and was accused of ‘targeting teenage girls by giving them alternatives to unwanted or unplanned pregnancies’.

Gikuyu TV manager summoned

The Board expressed concern over the airing of ‘unpalatable content’ and later summoned the General Manager of Gikuyu TV to address concerns over some of the films aired at the station that contained vulgar language.

“ CEO Ezekiel Mutua today led management in meeting with the General Manager of @tv_gikuyu, Mr James Muigai, popularly known as @TheKimonda to address concerns of the public over films aired by the station with and that contain vulgar language. The meeting follows public complaints over content aired by the station that is voiced with coarse, adult language by @TheKimonda in contravention of CAP 222 of the Laws of Kenya, the Watershed period in particular. The meeting resolved that @TheKimonda and @tv_gikuyu submit all their content for examination and classification. @tv_gikuyu committed to pull down all unclassified content and respect the watershed period,” Read a tweet from the board.
