We have started receiving threats - Mum to talented Githurai Girl

They have even resorted to security measures .

TV stations rushed to interview her, blogs ran her story and people re-shared her video to a point it reached Alicia Keys. Unfortunately this new found fame has come with a worrying downside, threats.

Christine Ambuso the mother of Amani disclosed that they have been receiving threats from people who think that they have been paid for the interviews. So they have resorted to taking security measures to protect her children as at some point her teenage son got attacked by unknown assailants.

“It has not been easy. It has been very scary because after that thing went viral we started receiving threats, even her brother was attacked, and they were demanding money. This was after they saw people interviewing us  and they thought they left us money so they say eeh lazima mtutolee za macho," Christine Ambuso told Citizen TV.

Due to the recent turn of events, Amani can no longer go to school alone as they fear for her safety. “Since that time, we have been accompanying Amani to school and ensuring that the teacher brings her back home. Her siblings have also been forced to stay indoors when not in school,” She disclosed.
