Social media affair

He added that Monica was not very familiar with Irungu as their communication were mostly on Facebook and Instagram.

The family said that the two began communicating on social media before they finally met recently at Westlands, Nairobi.

“The two were mutual friends and mostly communicated on Facebook and through Instagram. There was nothing intimate; Irungu admired my sister but she did not take him seriously as she had a boyfriend,” said George Kimani.

Monica’s father Bishop Paul Kimani Ngarama, who also spoke for the first time, said that he had forgiven her daughter’s killers, but his wife Miriam Kimani said she cannot forgive her daughter’s killer(s).

Monica’s brother (George) also revealed that he schooled with the suspect at the Kenya Polytechnic, now Technical University of Kenya, in Nairobi and they were friends, but lost touch as soon as they completed their university studies.
