Janet Mbugua speaks on rape claims at Kenyatta National Hospital

There are reports of mothers being raped by mortuary attendants at Kenyatta Hospital.

Some patients complained of being groped inappropriately by male nurses, mothers of newborns complained of being defiled at the hospital on their way to breast feed their newborns while female patients complained of morticians frightening patients among other horror stories.

Reports which Kenyatta National Hospital’s CEO Lily Koros denied calling the social media reports ‘untrue’ and ‘authored in bad faith’ but asked the DCI to investigate the matter.

On Saturday, Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda was joined by Murang'a Women Rep Sabina Chege, Nairobi’s Esther Passaris,  Homa Bay’s Gladys Wanga and Senator Susan Kihika for an impromptu visit  to the hospital where they urged the hospital to own up to the accusations being made and work on beefing up security for the patients.

Janet Mbugua a former TV personality has also spoken out on the scandal surrounding the major hospital. She believes that the scandals surrounding the hospital have become rampant and its time for an overhaul to ensure that the hospital is better placed to serve people.

“But how long can we talk about #KenyattaNationalHospital and the rampant issues that go on behind those doors? It’s absurd. There are probably tons of factors at play but that place needs an overhaul to better serve people! As for what the mums in the maternity wing have revealed, it’s so heartbreaking. To have to fight off monsters while nursing wounds and trying to nurse your newborn. Sick & saddening. Management? We’re looking into it. Government? We’re ordering investigations to look into it. Sad reality? Nothing changes if nothing changes! #DoSomething #EnoughIsEnough ” She wrote.
