In an interview with a popular radio station, Ms Waititu said that Frankie Justgymit is her first and true love, and she might love him for the rest of her life.
“Hata sitadanganya bado nampenda sana labda hata for the rest of my life. He’s my first and true love. Tulipatanishwa na rafiki wetu,” she said.
Asked whether she regrets the decision to go separate ways, Maureen Waititu said the thought has crossed her mind, but looking at the bigger picture, she does not regret.
“Nimekuwa na hayo mawazo lakini nikiangalia the bigger naona hakuna majuto kwa sababu hakuna mahali pameandikwa watu wawili watakaa mpaka mwisho. You never know labda haikuwa safari yangu lakini nimelearn my lesson,” added Ms Waititu.
Breaks silence on breakup
This comes a few days after Maureen disclosed that they parted ways long before going public with their separation, and it was only a matter of time.
The mother of two mentioned that the events leading to the breakup with Frankie tainted her self-esteem, as well as her happiness.
Ms Waititu, who is also a lawyer, stated that she was still dealing with the breakup, despite admitting that it took her to a dark moment in her life because that was not how she thought it would be.
“It is to be expected because we put our lives out there and our online ‘in-laws’ who were also invested in the relationship were and are still curious to know what happened. I’m still dealing with it. It takes time to come to terms with a breakup because of the physical and emotional toll… it feels almost like grief because I feel like I’ve lost someone who ideally I wanted to grow old with. It took me to a really dark place and it’s definitely not the way I envisioned things,” she said.
Frankie and Maureen went public with their breakup about four months ago.
