Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is mourning the sudden death of his grandmother who passed on, on Sunday after collapsing.

The news of Sonko’s grandmother demise, was made public by the Director of communications at his office Elkana Jacob.
“Nairobi governor Mike Sonko mourns the death of his grandmother, Fatuma Swaleh Ali. The late passed on Sunday night after collapsing. Sonko describes his late grandmother as a role model and inspiration to generations,” reads Elkana Jacob’s post.

The sad news came hours after Sonko held a lavish Birthday Party to on Saturday upon turning a year older, at his posh Mua Hills home in Machakos.
The exquisite affair was graced by close friends and family members and documented through videos that were later shared on social media.
“On such a wonderful day at exactly 5:23pm, my all time woman crush Saumu Mbuvi brought forth into the world a bouncing baby boy in the name of Mike Mbuvi Sonko.I'm now a year older and I have another reason to celebrate life.Thank you all for the birthday wishes” reads Sonko’s post on Instagram.
Grandmother to Sonko’s wife Primrose Mbuvi
In August, 2018 Sonko led his family in paying their last respects to the late Mama Rhoda Njura Micheck. Mama Misheck was the grandmother to Sonko’s wife Primrose Mbuvi.
Sonko's grandmother passed on at the age of 94 and is reported to have had a close relationship with the senator’s family.
The burial ceremony was held at Kathuri village in Runyenjes Sub-county, Embu County.
