Nation writer and columnist Njoki Chege has added her weight on Eric Omondi’s video that had caused an uproar on social media for the past few days.
According to the columnist, Omondi did nothing wrong and he should not have apologized.
In her Friday Column, the writer penned down a well written article dubbed “ explaining why Eric Omond’s act is not warrant an apology.
“We Eric, I have news for you. You did not have to apologise. I am going to be one of the people who will say this, the comedian did nothing wrong. Let us first get a few facts right before I can make my argument. Eric is a great young man, with a fine, creative head on his shoulders. He is, by any standards, a successful man, one of the few Kenyan comedians who are actually funny. He is creative, ever churning well-thought out and brilliantly executed comedy videos.” Reads part of Njoki Chege’s articles.
Njoki added that Eric’s only crime was to release the video to a people with no sense of humour.

“Eric’s only crime was to release the video to a people with no sense of humour; people who see evil in everything; who criticise anything and everything for the sake of criticising. Those criticising him are mostly people whose minds are in the gutter, whose hearts are so carnal, that they sexualise everything and anything without considering the context.”
Last week, Omondi revealed the truth behind his leaked video that had become a topic of discussion among online users.
He stated that the naked video was not meant to be go on social media, as he was shooting a traditional video dubbed “River lake Nilotes that happens to be talking about life in the old days.
“I had trusted the team I was working, I shot it to post it, and if you were carefully a had posted a few photos from the shoot, but later pulled them down. Many people did not have a problem with the photos, as first they were black and white. I captioned them "wakanda 1936", so that they could relate. The problem came when the naked video was leaked online. I’m not aware of who leaked it but were are doing investigations within our circle to ascertain who did it. I had a small team from my production department and a few members of the Turkana County Government. ” said Eric Omondi
Asked about his apology to Kenyans, the Untamed Man insisted that he only apologised because the video was leaked online, and not that he was swimming in a river naked.
