K24’s Betty Kyallo on Friday 13 Dec 2019 hosted celebrated Kikuyu musician Samidoh on the weekly segment of Upclose With Betty and gave the public a rare glimpse into the musician’s family life and his publicity shy wife who is the engine behind her his success.

In a rare media interview, the publicity shy Edith opened up, revealing that they met while still in high school.
“We met in high school and that is where our love grew. He is really funny and always makes me laugh. He is also a loving and caring husband to me,” said Edith.
“I was actually in Form Four at Oljororok Secondary School, when she (Edith) transferred to my school. By that time she was in Form Three,” confirmed Samidoh.

Samidoh clarified that they had not planned to get married but this just fell into place and saw their friendship that began in high school end up in marriage.
Opening up on their relationship, Edith stated that she was attracted to Samidah who she stated is a funny man and loving as well.
The musician on his part stated that having been raised without a sister, he found it easy to confide and share his experiences with Edith and their friendship transitioned to another level.
Samidoh also recounted his humble beginnings when he was a herdsboy on a monthly salary of Ksh 300 per month.

He at one point had to drop out of school while in class 7 for two terms. It took the intervention of her mother’s friend who offered to live with him for Samidoh to get back to school.
He later on joined his elder brother who was a band member in Kamda wa Kioi’s band.
