Vanessa urged the contestant known as Mark Angachi who was born with an eye condition called cataracts and is also a cancer survivor not to give up, regardless of what happens at the end of the competition.

It’s unusual for someone so young to sing so soulfully, you can tell that you’ve been through stuff I’m clinically blind in one eye as well but that hasn’t stopped me from pursuing my biggest dreams. Let that be the fuel for you no matter what happens at the end of this competition to me you are a winner and you’re going to continue winning,” she said.

Vanessa is one of the four judges in the competition that cuts across East Africa alongside Jeff Koinange, Gaetano Kagwa and Rwandese DJ Makeda.

Mark who discovered his singing talent at a very young age impressed all the judges with his prowess in singing soul music.
