Speaking during a radio interview, Mr. Kenyatta dismissed claims that his Jubilee party was controlling the electoral body.
The Head of State insisted that Jubilee only had one demand for IEBC – to conduct elections so that Kenya could move on.
“From the day the Supreme Court nullified the presidential results, we have not issued any order to the IEBC.
“We have only asked the electoral body to give Kenyans Justice by conducting the elections. We do not have any other demands to the IEBC,” Mr. Kenyatta said.
This comes a day after Chebukati and Akombe divulged that politicians were controlling the internal affairs of the Commission.
Speaking during a press conference, IEBC Chair stated that interference by politicians was inhibiting the electoral body from conducting a free and credible election.
"I am giving the yellow card to all the leaders in this country...I will not allow anyone to destroy this country as long as I am the referee of this election," Chebukati said.
His sentiments came hours after Akombe announced her resignation from the US where she is in exile.
Dr Akombe mentioned that an MP was sent to intimidate her and demand her resignation for pushing the removal of IEBC officials alleged to be involved in the bungled August 8 General Election.
At the same time, Ms. Akombe disclosed that the Commission was politically divided making it impossible for the Chair to make any decisions.
