And even though aging is inevitable, we can choose how we grow old. Yeah, you read that right. You can choose to look 20 something at 40 years or look like you are in your 50s when you are barely 30. So what’s the catch? What you eat is.

And since we all feel nice when people tell us that we look younger than our actual years, then we must watch our diets. If you don’t want to look older, stay away from these foods-because they age you:

1. Sugar

Too much sugar is not only bad for your teeth but also your skin. If you eat more sugar than your cells can process, it combines with proteins damaging your collagen and enhancing the aging of your skin. So if you don’t want to look older than your years, cut on the sweets and other sugary foods.

2. Alcohol

A beer once in a while might do you no harm. But regular consumption of alcohol has adverse effects to your health. Excess alcohol damages the liver. And once the liver is damaged, it means that toxins will get accumulated in your body. The next thing you see is acne and wrinkles on your skin.

3. Salty foods

Salt is a good source of Sodium but too much of it is harmful. Even though you may not put too much salt in your foods, most canned foods you consume are saltier than you thought. Salt encourages water retention leading to a puffy look as well as accelerating the aging process.

4. Coffee

Bad that coffee had to be on the list? But don’t worry, all you gotta do is take it with moderation and you will be safe. Coffee has diuretic effects meaning it enhances dehydration leaving your skin dry and wrinkled.

5. Soda

With all the love you have for a chilling bottle of coke, you will find it difficult to admit that soda makes you look much older than you really are. Studies have it that soda plays as big role in aging you as smoking.

6. Red meat

Red meat is a good source of protein but as it is with many foods, it needs to be consumed with moderation. Opt for white cuts more often and let red meat be a once in a while dish. Red meat has inflammatory effects and it speeds up your aging process.
