You probably hated pumpkin so much when growing up I reckon?

Well, it’s not the tastiest of foods. However, it’s really nutritional and you can use it for beauty purposes, be it hair or skin care. Most of the times, beauty products are quite expensive and there’s no need to splurge on some of those items when you can just use home-based products which will work just as well as those very beauty products. Pumpkin is a skin super food as it has tones of vitamin A, C and zinc and can help with a number of things such as acne, dark circles and damaged hair. Here are pumpkin beauty tips you should know about:

1. Acne and scarring.

Pumpkin can help treat acne and acne scars. It contains zinc which helps fight inflammations and it’s rich in collagen boosting vitamins. Make your own mask by mixing 2 tablespoons of blended pumpkin, 1 tablespoon of honey and one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Mix the ingredients together and apply it on your face using a clean brush. This mask contains powerful ingredients that will help treat acne, naturally exfoliate the skin and help with hyperpigmentation. Leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing it off.

2. Dark circles.

Vitamins A, C and K, contained in pumpkin are effective for minimizing dark circles. For this, you will need chilled pumpkin puree and a cotton pad. Cut the cotton pad into two halves then apply the chilled pumpkin puree on the cotton pad, using chilled puree helps to constrict the blood vessels which will reduce the dark circles and any puffiness. Place them underneath each eye and let it sit for 20 minutes. Apply this daily for best results.

3. Soft and smooth skin.

Pumpkin is excellent for the skin and can be used as an exfoliator. Mix equal parts pumpkin puree and sugar and rub it on your skin gently, in circular motion. This will help remove dead skin cells and nourish your skin as it contains thanks to the antioxidants that pumpkin contains. This will leave your skin moisturized and glowing.

4. Damaged hair.

Pumpkin makes for an amazing hair treatment. It provides the hair with the nutrients it needs to repair it and promotes hair growth as well. Make a deep conditioning hair mask by mixing 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree, one tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of yoghurt. Apply this mixture all over your hair and cover it with a plastic cap and leave it on for 30 minutes., then wash off. This will leave your hair freeze free, thanks to the yoghurt, smooth and moisturized.
