Workers who were studied from noisy work environments were found to have hearing difficulty, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
If noise could be reduced in such places, cases of hearing difficulties could reduce by up to 22%.
The research showed that there is potential for prevention of high blood pressure and high cholesterol if noise levels are reduced.

The reason for this is because noise increases risks of heart disease due to stress which trigger release of stress hormones such as cortisol, and leading to change in blood vessels and heart rate.
The study was published in The Amerian Journal of Industrial Medicine.
