Usikimbilie

Marriage is not for everyone. And if you are planning on ever getting married, you need to be ready for it.

It means committing yourself to someone who is not related to you for the rest of your life. And it’s not a game that you can opt out anytime you feel like things are not going your way.

So, for you to have a good marriage, avoid unnecessary fights and live without regrets, ensure you do these things before getting married:

1. Live with a roommate

And the roommate should not be your relative. This way, you will be able to know if you can live harmoniously with another person who is not your blood. Learn their weaknesses and know how to deal with them without causing drama. This will prepare you for marriage.

2. Live around kids

You might think that you want or do not want kids. But you can never be so sure about it unless you have lived with kids. If you never had younger siblings around you, associate with kids and you will know where your heart lies.

3. Learn to love people as they are

It’s easy to be selfish and want to change everyone so that they are like you. But it’s impossible to change anyone. And if you are planning to get married, you must learn to love and appreciate others with all their flaws.

4. Live your life to your best

Very important! Travel solo, go out with your friends and do all the cheesy things you have wanted to do. You may never have the chance to do crazy stuff once you get married. You will have to consult your partner before doing most things once you get married. Enjoy your freedom while it lasts.

5. Get your finances in order

Don’t transfer your financial problems to your partner. You will burden them and this may strain your marriage. Get your finances in order, get a job, pay off your debts and start up a business. No one to wants a dependent partner.

6. Learn to fight fairly

You will fight in marriage. Not once or twice but severally. How you handle your fights will determine how far your marriage will go. So, before you jump into marriage, learn how to fight fairly without being defensive when you are clearly on the wrong.
