Rachel Lindsay Tried The Paleo Diet To Prepare For Her Wedding To Bryan Abasolo

Rachel Lindsay Tried Paleo To Prep For Her Wedding
  • Season 13 Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay tells Women's Health she tried the paleo diet before her wedding to Bryan Abasolo.
  • She didn't feel different when she was on the diet, but she says she did notice physical changes.
  • She's looking forward to spending more time experimenting in the kitchen with her husband post-nuptials.

If former Bachelorette and bride-to-be Rachel Lindsay needs an extra boost of motivation to stick to her healthy lifestyle goals, she doesn't need to look any further than her fianceBryan Abasolo, her final pick from the show two years ago, is a certified personal trainer.

"It's one thing when youre by yourself, but it's another thing when youre sitting there with somebody who gets up in the morning, goes to work out, [and] is on this strict diet," she tells Women's Health. "It's definitely an inspiration to be able to be like, okay, hes getting up and doing it. I could be doing it, too."

When Rachel was looking to feel her very best ahead of her beachside bachelorette party in Costa Rica, she says Bryan helped her switch over to a paleo diet. The restrictive eating plan includes cutting out processed sugars and carbs and instead focusing on eating more fruits, veggies, nuts, and meat.

"I did it straight, without cheating, for two weeks," Rachel says. "Then I had to do something where I had some rice, which is my favorite thing to have."

The Bachelor Happy Hour podcast host admits she didn't really feel any different on paleo, "but I saw the changes in my body." (Hellooo, check those abs at her bachelorette party!)

But Rachel's being realistic about sticking with a paleo plan after her wedding this summer. "I think I'll do a modified diet where I dont want to just cut out rice and pasta altogether, so maybe limit it to once a week," she says. "If you let me do it, I'll have it every single day!"

When she's on her healthy eating game, Rachel considers salmon and pork chops her favorite things to make. She also makes a "really good Brussels sprout dish" drizzled with a balsamic vinegar and honey glaze.

She's also looking forward to spending even more time in the kitchen with Bryan post-wedding, which is why you'll see a ton of kitchen gadgets on their The Knot registry . The attorney is most excited about getting a new set of pots and pans, an Instant Pot, and a tabletop grill to get that summer BBQ taste in the comfort of their apartment. They also registered for a cooking class, because "if Im gonna be getting all this stuff, I might as well have an expert teach me how to use it properly," Rachel reasons.

Rachel's "really trying to take the next step" when it comes to her healthy cooking skills, and there's a perfectly adorable reason for that: "We want to start a family within the year and start trying for that. I need to be able to cook for my kids," she says. "I mean, Postmates is going to be expensive for a family of four or five!"
