NASA announces series of events ahead of Tuesday's Grand Rally [Full Details]
The series of events will culminate in a grand rally on Tuesday at Uhuru Park.
The public rally at Uhuru Park will coincide with President Uhuru Kenyatta's inauguration ceremony set to take place at the Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.
On Friday, NASA will hold a fundraiser to help assist families of those killed during protests against the elections that has played out in the past few weeks.
The fund-raiser will be led by NASA leaders at the Laico Regency Hotel in Nairobi.
The coalition has placed an obituary in the local dailies bearing the names of 27 people it claims were killed by bullets from the police or hacked by organised gangs in street protests in violent clashes and protests.
According to The Standard, the NASA coalition will on Saturday be at Machakos where they are set to hold their inaugural mini People’s Assembly.
The venue will be at the Maanzoni Lodge where NASA's National Resistance Movement parliamentary wing will hold their Mini Council of the People’s Assembly.
While announcing the formation of the People’s Assemblies last month, NASA leader Raila Odinga said the formation will be a broad based forum consisting of elected leaders and the leadership of other sectors of society in particular workers, civil society, religious leaders, women, youth and economic interest groups.
Already 12 counties have passed the NASA's People's Assembly Motion in their respective county assemblies despite the High Court on Monday issued orders restraining them from passing or implementing motions on the formation of the NASA-led People’s Assemblies.
On Monday, the NASA leaders will hold a memorial service for the victims killed in protests in separate venues across the country.
These series of events will culminate in Tuesday's grand rally which they have christened as a memorial service led by Odinga for all victims killed since the August elections at Uhuru Park the same time President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto are expected to be sworn in for a second term in office.
