18 dead as 276 new Covid-19 cases reported in Kenya, total at 49,997

Kenya's Covid-19 case load is just three persons shy of 50,000. This after 276 new cases were reported on Monday.

From the cases, 273 were Kenyan nationals while three were foreigners. 179 being male while 97 were females.

A total of 1,191 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities while 1,406 are in home-based isolation and care.

Case distribution by county was as follows; Mombasa (71), Machakos (58), Nairobi (51), Kilifi and Busia (21 each), Kwale (19), Kajiado (13), Garissa (6), Nakuru (5), Narok (4), Makueni and Kiambu (3 each), Taita Taveta and Tharaka Nithi (1 each).

Deaths and Recoveries

Eighteen more patients succumbed to the illness bringing total fatalities to 920.

220 patients recovered from the disease, 150 from the home-based care programme and 70 from various hospitals. Total recoveries now stand at 34,429.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe confirmed that 20 patients are in ICU, another 20 are in HDU while a total of 52 are on supplementary oxygen.
