A 46-seater bus on Friday morning was swept away by floods along River Kyamela in Makueni County.
The matatu had passengers on board who were rescued by well wishers before the bus could be carried away by the raging waters.
It is reported that those inside the bus were headed to Mtito Andei for a dowry payment ceremony.
The driver attempted to drive across the flooded stream despite warnings from locals.
Passengers were rescued from the muddy waters and reports indicate that none was seriously harmed.
