Seven suspects accused of impersonating President Uhuru Kenyatta and conning businessman Naushad Merali Sh10 million have all been released.

The seven were released after they appeared in Court and denied all the charges against them, on Wednesday. They were released on a cash bail of Sh100,000 each.

They were arrested on Saturday and accused of mimicking President Uhuru to con the Sameer Africa Chairman of Sh10 million.

Appeared in court

Joseph Waswa, Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wajekeche, William Simiyu, David Luganya, Gilbert Kirunja and Anthony Wafula first appeared in court on Monday, and the prosecution sought to have them detained for 10 days, as they concluded investigations.

It is alleged that they used mobile number 0722 208842 to call Naushad Merali, asking him to facilitate the release of the money for the purchase of land, while mimicking the voice of the President.

Police arrested the suspects over crimes believed to involve fraudulent misrepresentation, millions of shillings and senior State House officials.

During the operation, police seized four vehicles including a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Toyota Mark X, a Toyota Axio and a Toyota Crown.
