Interior CS Fred Matiangi on Wednesday summoned security chiefs from around the country for a crisis meeting to be held on Monday over safety in schools during the upcoming exams.

The CS summoned security bosses following an Al Shabab attack that left two teachers dead in Mandera.

The two teachers working at Arabia High School were killed on Wednesday morning, raising concerns that more attacks could have been planned during the national exams expected to begin from October 29.

“They threw an explosive in a room that had four teachers, two managed to escape,” a security official said of the incident.

Two Kenya police reservists guarding the teacher’s quarters were said to have been overpowered by the Al Shabaab attackers who forced them to flee to safety.
