Embakasi East MP on Wednesday morning sparked a heated debate on social media after he launched an attack on Jubilee nominated MCA Anne Thumbi, who also happens to have mothered a child with former Kibra MP Ken Okoth.

Owino dragged Thumbi into the by-elections campaign by challenging the Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga to choose between inheriting Okoth’s wife or taking over the Kibra seat.
He claimed that Thumbi’s closeness to Mariga amounted to “contempt” against the late Okoth.
“This is the lady who had a baby with the late Hon.Ken Okoth.Mariga must choose between the lady or the seat, hauwezi dharau the late Ken by taking both his seat and his wife.Choose one Omwami,” Owino posted on social media.
The post did not go well with a section of netizens, who accused the fiery legislator of engaging in personal attacks rather than the campaign issues.
Mariga's Campaign
Most of those who commented defended Thumbi’s presence in Mariga’s campaign, noting that she was obliged to campaign for her party’s candidate even though her child’s uncle was on the ballot.
“The lady was nominated by jubilee, she has the audacity to support a jubilee Candidate, therefore shut up!” Kepha Wycliffe said.
“She has a life to live and Ken is dead plus she was not even married to him. Lastly blessings come from God,” CessieSonnie commented.
Ironically, Owino’s post came only a day after he promised that the by-election would be devoid of insults.
"(Beginning today, I will no longer insult my political opponents. If anyone insults me, I will pray for them to never do it again. May God bless you all so much that it surprises you)," the MP promised on Tuesday.
