Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Wednesday morning made a surprising declaration through his social media accounts just an hour after he kicked off door-to-door campaigns in Kibra constituency.

It's not immediately clear what led the MP to make the announcement amid the campaigns for the ODM candidate, Bernard Imran Okoth, in the upcoming Kibra by-election.
"Kuanzia leo siasa ya matusi imeisha lakini atakayeni attack nitamsamehe na kumwombea asije akanitusi tena.Rabuka awabariki hadi mshangae.
"(Beginning today, I will no longer insult my political opponents. If anyone insults me, I will pray for them to never do it again. May God bless you all so much that it surprises you)," the MP posted.
He also shared a photo of himself accompanied by bodyguards as he walked in what is believed to have been an area in Kibra.
Abrasive Babu Owino
The MP's declaration came just a day after he insulted Deputy President William Ruto during a campaign event in Kibra on Tuesday September 17.
"DP William Ruto ana ushenzi, ana ujinga na ana madharau na round hii lazima tumuonyeshe hii madharau yake lazima iishe hapa Kibra (DP Ruto is a fool, he is foolish and he is disrespectful and we must show him that he won't do that here in Kibra).
"ODM ndio imejenga Ruto. Saa hizi ameshika mak... ameona imejaza mkono anataka kudharau nayo Baba (ODM built Ruto and now that he has grown [in politics] he thinks he has the balls [sic] to insult Raila)," he stated.
He is known to be a die-hard supporter of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga having recently declared that "Disloyalty to Raila is loyalty to Satan".
The post elicited negative remarks with many deducing that he had communicated that Raila is his God.
"I have not equated Raila to God The Almighty but I’m sufficiently and ruthlessly loyal to him. God is my creator and in HIM I trust. God is the creator of heaven and earth and the giver of life," the legislator later clarified.
One of the most out-of-line insults was against President Uhuru Kenyatta and former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta where he referred to the president as "mtoto wa mbwa".
Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has also been at the receiving end of Babu's insults. He has been called "mikebe ya blueband", "marehemu (deceased)" and some unprintables at the height of the post-2017 elections protests.
The MP has also been arrested and charged in court for insulting the state officials.
