Bishop David Kariuki Ngare popularly referred to as Gakuyo, on Thursday requested the High Court to disregarded a proposal that wants his real estate firm fined Sh1 billion.
The recommendation was made by the cooperatives regulator in a bid to recover funds lost through Gakuyo’s Ekeza Sacco.

The savings and cooperative had been given the go ahead to use all necessary measures to get back the defaulted loans by the organisation.
The money lost through the ongoing scandal was reported to be worth Sh564 million.
Gakuyo surrenders to DCI
A week ago, the controversial preacher had surrendered to officers at the DCI.
The headquarters of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) along Kiambu Road, Nairobi.
Gakuyo including six other officials of the sacoo, had been grilled for half an hour by Head of Serious Crimes Unit Joseph Kariuki.
The move by the bishop who also doubles up as a politician, came after Interior CS Fred Matiang’i warned that action would be taken against saccos that misused funds of their members.
