Speaking to The Standard, Khalwale recounted his Adelaide Khalwale’s last moments alive, revealing that they (family and friends) knew that she was not very far from death.

"As a cancer patient, we knew she was not very far from death, but we didn't know she would die now from pulmonary hypertension." Khalwale said.

"She just stopped breathing," Khalwale added.

The vocal politician revealed that a week ago, the deceased developed pulmonary hypertension that resulted in her death.

"A sad morning. Death has just robbed my first wife". Khalwale posted shortly after Adelaide breathed her last.

Adelaide was diagnosed with cervical cancer since 2003 and underwent treatment for the same to manage the condition.

Tragedy would strike yet again earlier this year when she was diagnosed with blood cancer but underwent treatment and was declared cancer free.

Adelaide was Khalwale’s first wife and played an integral role in his rise to become one of Kenya’s notable politicians.

Prior to her death, she worked as a secretary at Masinde Muliro University.

Her body was taken to Mukumu Hospital morgue.
