An incomplete building in Butali, Kakamega County has collapsed trapping workers under the rubble.
Residents say that construction was ongoing at the site when a wall caved in. The building is said to be a private, two-storey residence under construction.
The private developer allegedly fled the scene when the unfortunate accident occurred.
A resident, Wilbroda Sindani, told reporters that a woman who cooks for the workers, and was in the building when it crashed, had been making phone calls asking for help.
Two people have since been confirmed dead.
Precious Talents School
The Kakamega incident comes barely two weeks after a similar crash at a school in Nairobi's Dagoretti South constituency.
The Precious Talents School two-storey classroom block came down at around 8 a.m killing eight pupils and injuring 59 others.
The school was deregistered by the Ministry of Health.
