US Letter to Kenya After Murder of IEBC Manager

The two nations have offered help to Kenya in conducting investigations that led to the death of Mr Msando.

Ambassador of the United States Robert Godec and High Commissioner for the United Kingdom Nic Hailey stated that they were ready to send Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Scotland Yard detectives respectfully to probe the murder.

US and UK urged the Government of Kenya to be committed in the investigation adding that it was critical ahead of the August 8 General Election.

The two nation further asked the Government to provide security to the IEBC commissioners.

"The United States and the United Kingdom are gravely concerned by the murder of IEBC’s Systems Development Manager Christopher Msando. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and the entire IEBC team.

"It is critical that Kenya have free, fair, credible and peaceful elections on August 8, and protection for IEBC staff is essential to achieving this goal.

"We welcome the Government of Kenya’s commitment to investigating the murder.  We have offered our assistance in the investigation," the letter read.

At the same time, detectives at Directorate of Criminal Investigations  have launched investigation to the manager's death.

Msando went missing on Friday night and was found on Monday at City Mortuary.

His body appeared to have been brutally tortured.
