His press secretary Lee Njiru said Mr Moi's family is displeased with the negative reports in a section of media which they termed as alarming.
Mr Njiru confirmed that the former was in hospital but he was not in a critical condition.

"The true position is that Mzee Moi is in hospital being attended to by a professional medical team led by his personal physician Dr David Silverstein.
He is alert and conscious of his surroundings," a statement, his press secretary read.
Routine check up
The media has been asked by the former president's family to refrain from publishing alarming statements issued through the official channel.
On Monday, Mr Njiru confirmed that Mzee Moi was in the hospital over what he termed as "a routine medical check-up".

Mr Njiru said Mr Moi's physician, Dr David Silverstein will determine how long he will stay at the hospital.
“He is expected to go back home but that will be at the discretion of his personal physician; he will make the final decision.” he stated.
