The DCI on Sunday arrested a group of five men who gang raped a 13-year-old girl in Tana River County.

Police stated that the criminals identified as Said Omar, Galgalo Athumani, Athumani Mohamed, Yasir Mohamed & Dero Juma, had kidnapped the girl from her home.

Further reports indicated that the five had taken the child to Ovo forest, where they took turns committing the act as they held her hands and covered her mouth to stop her from crying for help.

DCI detectives added that the victim had been rushed to hospital after she was found and underwent treatment and counselling.

The law enforcers however pointed out that they were in pursuit of two other suspects who were part of the crime.

The five are set to be arraigned in court on Monday.

Suspects arrested after audio goes viral

In a similar incident in 2018, two people were arrested after raping a form three student in Bomet.

The two were apprehended after an audio they recorded during the incident went viral.

Police stated that the two suspects were part of a ten-man gang that committed the act.

A relative of the victim revealed that the student was discovered at a room belonging to one of the criminals after she had been reported missing.
