Deputy President William Ruto has yet again expanded his business empire and is set to mint millions after converting his private home in Karen, Nairobi, into an exclusive guest house.

The Standard reports that multi-million shilling home located in Karen has been converted into an executive wing of the Weston Hotel which is also DP Ruto’s political power centre.

“Essentially, it is a Weston Annex of sorts, it is meant for the VIPs, the kind of guests who want exclusivity and serenity away from the city,” said one of the aides who sought anonymity.

Located on a four acre piece of land in in the serene and affluent Karen, the residence enjoys the tranquility that is offered by the Oloolua Nature Trail.

The property is surrounded by lush forests with a giraffe center is located nearby and giving guest the peace, comfort and scenic view they desire away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

A source working on the residence that is currently under renovation confirmed to the publication that “The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and expansion, but it will be ready and open next month”.

“It is an exclusive hotel or you can call it a guest house, but it is only for the top notch clientele, or when he has guests and wants to have very private meetings,” he added.

The face-lift is expected to turn the facility into an exclusive guest house targeting high-end clientele, complete with a top-of-the-range presidential suite.

Moving to official residence

Ruto moved out of the property to his official residence in 2013 after he became Deputy President.

An aide who spoke to The Standard in confidence stated that “In his hustler spirit, he (DP Ruto) decided that the house could give him a coin or two for the family instead of letting it stay unoccupied”.

His official residence, also located in Karen has a church that was opened on 01 August 2019 and which will be called the National Prayer Alter.

The two were joined by various spiritual leaders from across the country, media personalities and government officials as well.

Today, my husband the Deputy President and I were blessed to have been joined by Fathers of Faith and key leaders in various mountains of influence during the opening ceremony of our National Prayer Altar at the Official Residence of the Deputy President,” Tweeted Rachel Ruto.

And "David built there an altar to the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Thus the LORD was moved by prayer for the land, and the plague was held back from Israel" (2 Samuel 24:25),” she added.

The church has been under construction since August last year.
