Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has issued a statement following the assault of Mlango Kubwa MCA Mutheu Musyimi.

DPP Haji noted that he had spoken to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) on the matter and confirmed that his office would take up the matter once IPOA has submitted its findings.

"DPP Noordin Haji has however directed IPOA to carry out thorough investigations into the matter and forward resultant file to his Office for appropriate direction," a brief statement from his office read.

At the same time, the ODPP disowned a letter bearing the State office's letterhead and the DPP's signature as a fraud.

The letter which outlined similar details on the MCA's assault had been widely circulated online between July 28 and Wednesday morning.

The ODPP has since denied having authored it and termed it as a fake.
