The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has received a file that contains names of top politicians involved in an investigation on how taxpayers lost money during the construction of a mall in Kisumu.
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) which led the probe estimated that up to Ksh2 billion could have been lost due to inflated costs in the construction of the Lake Basin Mall.

According to reports by the Standard, the officials could be from both the Government and the Opposition sides.
Haji is expected to act on the file which might expose the underhand dealings of senior Lake Victoria Basin Development Authority (LBDA) managers, lawyers and politicians.
Loan
Detectives are trying to establish why LBDA took a loan of Ksh2.5 billion from Co-operative Bank and government land was used to secure a loan from the bank without consent from the Attorney General.

Over 26 senior former and current LBDA managers are targeted, three lawyers and a number of politicians.
Investigators are speculating that the number might increase or it will be reduced based on the team from the legal department's observations and recommendations.
So far over 70 people have been questioned by EACC detectives.
