National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale has been away from the political scene for quite some time now.
However, on Thursday Duale came out guns blazing to defend Deputy President William Ruto after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka dragged his boss’ name to the multimillion troubles he is facing in his organization, The Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation.
Mr. Musyoka had blamed Ruto for his woes after the Non-Governmental Organisations Coordination Board CEO Fazul Mahamed froze his bank account.
In Ruto’s defense, Duale rubbished the claims and asked the NASA principal to carry his own cross.
The MP accused Musyoka of pocketing funds donated to his Foundation meant to help the less fortunate.
“I want to tell Kalonzo that you have misappropriated funds meant for the vulnerable. You were given money by the Chinese to construct schools in Makueni and Kitui counties, but instead pocketed it.
Carry your own cross and stop dragging and soiling the Deputy President’s name in your anguish. I wonder how Ruto comes in unless you have substantial evidence linking him,” he said.
The board froze the bank accounts highlighting that it was involved in money laundering and operating illegal accounts.
According to a letter by Mr. Mahamed, huge amounts of money were donated to improve the livelihoods of marginalised communities as well as provide healthcare and quality education, among other poverty alleviation interventions, in the neighbouring counties of Machakos, Kitui and Makueni, but the Foundation could not account for it.

However, Kalonzo has since dismissed the allegations as a political witch hunt.
During a press conference, the former Vice President alluded that DP Ruto was behind the propaganda.
