Governor Hassan Joho

Addressing a press conference from his office on Monday morning, Joho alleged that the officers would only allow him to leave the office after Kenyatta concluded his visit to the Coast region.

“As we sit here today, I can’t leave the office because we have been restricted by police police officers,” Joho said while addressing journalist.

The Governor stated that he wanted to grace Kenyatta’s event, where he is expected to launch Mtongwe ferry services, on grounds that his county had contributed to the project.

Joho added that he was blocked from attending the event because Jubilee feared he would prove the numerous services he had delivered to the people of Mombasa.

He dismissed the President’s remarks that the county government of Mombasa had received Sh40 billion from the National Government stating that the county had only been allocated Sh17 billion since 2013.

The ODM deputy part leader was nabbed by officers from GSU on Monday morning and escorted to his office where he is currently being held.

The Recce squad officers are said to have been ordered not allow the governor to grace the event until the President concluded his functions in Mombasa.
