Joho withdraws from Raila’s campaign team
Joho faces stiff competition to retain his seat from Senator Omar and Jubilee's Shahbal.
According to The Standard, Joho has temporarily withdrawn from the Raila team to concentrate on his re-election bid.
Joho faces stiff competition to retain his gubernatorial seat from Wiper’s Senator Hassan Omar and Jubilee's Suleiman Shahbal who have in the past few weeks stepped up their campaigns as Joho was traversing the country with Raila in several Nasa rallies.
Last week, Joho hosted an Iftar dinner with Raila and the other Nasa principals that has sparked controversy after Omar claimed the governor hijacked the event and made it an ODM affair while at the same time belittling the other coalition leaders.
Shortly after Raila was named the NASA flagbearer, Joho was named as part of their powerful presidential campaign team and was named the coalition’s team leader in the Coast region.
The team is headed by Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Under this team are regional chiefs who act as county coordinators, constituency coordinators and polling station managers.
In total, Raila will have about 500 mainly young people and experts working on his campaign countrywide.
Joho, who is also the ODM party leader, is also part of the a 15-member Nasa steering committee that Raila named to spearhead his presidential bid that also includes logistics with elections only 54 days away.
