Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo is set to be arrested after a court in Meru County issued a warrant of arrest.

The warrant was issued after Doyo failed to appear in Court over corruption charges he is facing.

The governor is facing charges of abuse of office and falsely misleading Isiolo Supplementary Appropriation Bill and improperly conferring a benefit of over Sh3.3 billion on the Isiolo County Government on December 11, 2014.

The offence was allegedly committed in conspiracy with MCAs Devid Lemantile (Deputy Speaker), Abdi Sora Balla (Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee) and Assistant Assembly Clerk Boru Jirima who denied the charges in court.

The governor is also said to have conferred an improper benefit of Sh3,302,417,755.40 by assenting to a bill, which had not been debated and approved by the assembly.

In March 7, 2017, Ethics and Anti-corruption commission (EACC) officers raided the governor’s home in pursuit of evidence.

However, the officers were attacked by supporters of the Governor and beaten with some sustaining serious injuries.

The residents claimed that the EACC detectives wanted to persecute the Governor to bar him from contesting during the August 8 Election.

The Governor, who had appeared before the court previously, denied all the charges stating that he followed the law in all his dealings.
