Mr Kabogo cancelled the press briefing minutes after he had called it, leaving journalists to speculate why he invited them in the first place.

The reporters were ready to provide coverage for him but unceremoniously called it off.

The Kiambu Governor instead remained in a closed door meeting with Jubilee leaders who lost in the just concluded primaries.

Among the politicians present included, Nakuru Governors Kinuthia Mbugua and his Kirinynga counterpart Joseph Ndathi.

Aspiring Governors John Mututho (Nakuru), Thuita Mwangi (Laikipia) and Thuo Mathenge (Nyeri) were also present.

Unverified reports indicated that Kabogo called the presser to announce his candidature for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate.

This comes days after Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu embarrassingly defeated him during the Jubilee nomination exercise.

Though Kabogo conceded defeat to Waititu, he had earlier hinted on going to the ballot box alone

"My supporters have been pushing me to vie, lakini ningali natulia, niko holiday ya wiki moja, I will clear all that next week," Kabogo mentioned.

During the primaries, the Governor garnered 69,916 votes while Waititu’s got a whopping 358,604 votes.

In a report by the Nation, the Friday closed door meeting was organized to discuss the outcome of the primaries.
