Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is a troubled man after a group of Kiambu residents moved to court demanding he refunds all the salary he has ever been paid since elected to office.

The locals also want Kabogo’s cabinets and all ward representative to give back monies and other benefits paid to them in form of salaries and allowances.

The over 70 residents led by a Mr. James Gacheru told the court that the leaders failed to perform their mandate.

They argued that the members of the county executive and the assembly did not deserve any form of payment because all their functions in the last four years were unconstitutional.

“The court should determine whether persons elected, nominated or appointed state offices can neglect, ignore or refuse to discharge their statutory duties for which they mandated discharge, and at the same time draw salaries and emoluments from public coffers,” the court papers read in part.

According to the locals, the leaders have nothing to show for their term in office since all the legislation which they approved were nullified.

They made the move on Thursday following a February ruling by High Court Judge Isaac Lenaola who ruled that all the legislations passed in the county were null and void.

According to Justice Lenaola, the legislations were illegal since they were never gazetted as stipulated in Article 199 (1) of the Constitution.
