Here is a look at those vying for the Presidency as independents:

Nazlin Umar

Umar will be taking a second stab at the presidency after an unsuccessful attempt in 2007.

She garnered a total of 8,624 votes in the presidential tally after she vied on a Workers Congress Party of Kenya ticket.

Joseph Nyaga

Joseph Nyagah is a former Minister for Cooperative Development under the Grand Coalition Government.

He resigned as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s adviser only a few days ago to run for the highest seat in the land.

He is also the chancellor of the Cooperative University of Kenya.

Edwin Wambua

Wambua is a 31 year-old from Kitui County.

He says he believes he will change Kenya through his Ministry (Truth Ministry Church) after receiving a call from God to lead the country.

Ngacha Karani

Karani contested the presidency in 2002 and 2007.

However, his presidential bid in 2013 was thwarted after the degree law came into force where one had to have a recognised university degree to vie for the presidency.

Others independents running for the Presidency include Robert Mukhwana Juma, Japheth Kavinga, Nixon Kukuboh, Joseph Musyoka, Erastus Nyamera Masira, Mr Stephen Owoko Oganga
