Machakos senator Johnson Muthama has now told NASA principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi to merge all affiliate parties in the alliance to one big outfit ahead of the upcoming polls.

Speaking to a local daily, the controversial senator stated that the principals should follow the example of Jubilee and collapse ODM, Wiper, ANC and Ford Kenya into NASA in order to unite all tribes in Kenya.

“I called for the making of CORD into a single party a year back, i hereby repeat that NASA should be united into one party,” Muthama was quoted by the Standard.

Muthama’s request comes barely a week after Odinga noted that he did not see the need to merge all the affiliate parties in NASA into one on grounds that they were reluctant to do so.

“Parties are reluctant to fold and preferred the route of National Rainbow Alliance (Narc) in 2002 where a coalition was formed with parties as members of the coalition. I don't think for now the move is necessary,” the former Prime Minister said.

The senator’s move comes at a time NASA is having the thorny matter of picking the flagbearer.

Despite numerous assurances by the principals that all was well in the alliance, speculations have been rife that Kalonzo could bolt out of the coalition if not made the presidential candidate.

Recently, Odinga claimed that Jubilee had deployed the services of the National intelligence service (NIS) to spread rumors that there was rift in the alliance in order to create anxiety among its supporters.
