The missive seen by Plive.co.ke expressed the sentiments of six aspiring MPs and 12 MCAs of Langata Constituency, who indicated that Joho could not be trusted with the primaries.

“We aspirants and members of the ODM party in Nairobi are dismayed and alarmed at the appointment of the Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho to oversee the nomination exercise County,” the letter read in part.

The leaders alleged that Joho would rig the nominations highlighting that he already favors his relative Ahmed Ibrahim, who is eying the Lang’ata Parliamentary seat.

“Although as a party leader he is expected to play neutral or at least impartial, Joho is on record swearing to install his PA and relative Ahmed Ibrahim alias PASPA as the next MP for Lang’ata Constituency in Nairobi.

“This is an irresponsible thing to do given that it puts him at loggerheads with other ODM party candidates and their supporters,” the leaders noted.

The ODM aspirants accused Joho of having links with criminals who were arrested over cyber crime activities hence cannot be relied on.

According to the leaders, Joho’s PA – Ahmed - is a brother to Omar Ibrahim, who was arrested by CID cyber crime squad over hacking into the systems of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), M Pesa and Back accounts of Kenyans.

“Gov Joho’s preferred ODM candidate for Lang’ata constituency is a man of a dark background bordering on criminality

The leaders further complained that appointing Joho to oversee the nominations was demeaning to Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero as it sent the message that "he (Kidero) was too incompetent to oversee party affairs in his own jurisdiction".

They asked ODM party leader Raila Odinga to revoke the appointment and replace the Mombasa boss with a neutral person.
