Raila calls for urgent press briefing over KDF soldiers

National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Tuesday called journalists for an urgent briefing at his Capitol Hill office in Upper Hill.

The Former Prime told reporters that emerging reports indicated that Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Soldiers had been recruited and were being trained to be polling and presiding officers during the August 8 General Election.

According to Mr. Odinga over 100 soldiers had already been dispatched to the Provincial Commissioner's office in Kakamega and overtaken the facilities.

The ODM chief claimed that this was part of Jubilee ploy to rig the upcoming General Election.

"Selected KDF soldiers being trained for recruitment as polling and presiding officers to help rig the August General election," he alleged.

Odinga divulged that a secret meeting was held involving officers from Armed Forces, Director General of National Intelligence Service (NIS), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Commandant of the National Defense College to plot how Jubilee will win.

He urged the military men to remain faithful to their duties and not get involved in politics.

"Remain faithful to the traditions of this country and not be dragged into politics. Stick to your values of protecting the country , from external enemies and seize from being involved in matters 2017 General Election" Odinga said.

The NASA flag bearer also took the opportunity to rubbish National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale's allegations linking him to a South African company in the IEBC ballot papers tender.

Odinga stated that he was not cheap to be involved in such businesses.

"They are making wild allegations about my involvement with a South African company," he noted.
