Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday assured the Kikuyu community of a safety if elected the 5th President of Kenya during the August 8 General Election.

Mr. Odinga stated that the community had no need to fear that they will be discriminated if NASA ousters the Jubilee administration led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking during a press conference at Panafric Hotel, the Former Prime Minister stated that: "I want to assure all Kikuyus that they will feel more secure, happier under a more responsive government led by Raila Odinga".

He added that the community will be more comfortable in NASA unlike "under the mediocrity of Jubilee in the name of 'mundu wakwa'

"Kikuyus are Kenyans. No community is better or inferior to the other," he said.

Addressing journalists ahead of his tour in Kiambu County Mr. Odinga highlighted that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been portraying him as an enemy of the people in order to instill fear among Kenyans.

“Jubilee is spreading propaganda that I am a dictator and I will snatch peoples’ lands. I was once a Prime Minister and worked with many people from different sectors. Ask them and they will tell you that I am the most consultative leader around,” the former Premier noted.

He vowed to ensure the safety of all Kenyans if elected the Head of State.

"As the president, I will ensure that every Kenyan is safe in whichever part of Kenya they live. I remain extremely committed to building a Kenya in which any Kenyan can live, do business and own property in any part of the country," he said.

The ODM chief promised that his government will ensure that money is allocated in the budget to improve and expand both the Githunguri Dairy as well as the coffee and tea sector, in a bid to create more jobs for the youth, something that Jubilee has failed.

“Jubilee is promising 6.5 million jobs in five years yet they have been unable to provide 500,000 jobs a year when in power.

We will focus on building rural roads in Kiambu and other neglected areas so that a trader in Kiambu will be able to access the market in Kisumu and come back to Kiambu within a day,” the ODM party leader said.
