Muthama revealed that he had intended to contest for an elective post in Nairobi County and not his Machakos backyard in this year's general elections.

During an interview on Citizen TV's The Big Question, Muthama said he had wanted to vie in Nairobi but Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka pleaded with him not to.

"Kalonzo stopped me from coming to Nairobi. He pleaded with me to stay in Machakos saying that i was required in order that i campaign for the party and get maximum votes for Wiper," Muthama revealed.
