Sonko's special request to Peter Kenneth

Sonko and Kenneth have been locked in a bitter battle since the Jubilee primaries.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko (left) and his opponent Peter Kenneth.

Sonko has said he is willing to work with Kenneth to build Nairobi County and asked him to join the Jubilee campaign team.

“There is no permanent enmity in politics, we need to forgive each other and work together. There are so many slots in Nairobi and we can even negotiate for him a Cabinet position,” said Sonko.

The Senator said he had no hard feelings towards Kenneth whom he beat in the Jubilee Nairobi primaries and urged for unity to take Nairobi to the next level.

Sonko garnered 138,185 votes against the former Gatanga MP who got 62,504.

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru came in a distant third with 7,654 votes.

Kenneth immediately rejected the result citing massive irregularities in the process and later ditched Jubilee Party and declared his intention to vie for Nairobi Governor as an Independent candidate.

Kenneth and Sonko have been locked in a bitter battle that has threatened to tear apart the Jubilee Party in Nairobi, a situation that has even forced President Uhuru Kenyatta to offer himself as a mediator to end the feud between the two politicians.

This latest move by Sonko has surprised and shocked both friends and foes alike leaving them bewildered as the Senator in April had vowed never to work with Kenneth.
