President Kenyatta will..

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday July 23, 2017 assured Kenyans that he will concede defeat if he loses at the August 8, 2017 elections.

The president was live on Facebook on Sunday morning when a user by the name Martin Muchiri asked him what he would do if Raila Odinga beat him at the August 8 elections.

The president responded saying;

“Raila has to defeat me first but I intend to defeat him. But let me put it this way, I have done in the past, will do in the future, accept the will of the people,” he said.

He further went on to re-assure Kenyans that if he is defeated at the August 8 elections, that he will ensure a smooth transition for the next leader.

“If the will of the people is that another shall be given the opportunity to continue I will do everything in my power to ensure a smooth transition,” he said

Other questions posed by online users to the president included the safety measures being taken by the government in preparation for the upcoming elections.

“I want to ensure all Kenyans that our security has put mechanisms to ensure that Kenyans are safe, but above all, it is our responsibility as Kenyans to ensure that we don’t plunge the country into violence.”

He further urged Kenyans to be active and united in the fight against corruption within the country.
