Matiang'i issues new directive to Universities

Universities were to open on August 18 but they will now be opened on...

He had earlier announced that all public universities would remain closed until August 18.

The previous announcement was made in order to allow staff and students to participate in the concluded August General Elections.

University of Nairobi VC, Professor Peter Mbithi, confirmed that the institution would be closed on the said date.

"This is to inform all staff that the University of Nairobi will close with effect from August 4, 2017 up to August 18, 2017 during the electioneering period," Prof Mbithi was quoted by the standard.

Other VC's divulged that other universities were making similar arrangements to close the institutions by the issued date.

It was anticipated that all schools would be closed until after the elections and presidential results announced.
