President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to meet US President Donald Trump during the 43rd G7 summit held in Taormina, Italy.

The high profile meeting will be attended by other world leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

Mr Kenyatta departed for Italy on Friday morning for the global meeting which starts today, May 26th to May 27th.

The Group of  seven (G7) is a group of world's seven most powerful industrialised countries - the US, Japan, Germany, the UK, France, Italy and Canada. The EU is also represented.

The countries meet annually to discuss global issues such as economic governance, international security and energy policy.

President Donald Trump has already made his way to Italy.

“Just arrived in Taormina with @FLOTUS Melania. #G7Summit#USA,” Mr Trump tweeted.

President Kenyatta and leaders from Ethiopia, Tunisia and Nigeria are expected to represent the interests of Africa during the Summit.

Mr Kenyatta will also set Kenya’s achievement over time.

This will be the first time President Kenyatta meets Trump since he succeeded former President Barack Obama.
