Kuria who revealed this through his facebook account, highlighted that Duale had hatched a new plan that would see him removed from the Transport and Budget committees in Parliament.
“So now Aden Duale wants to dewhip me from the two committees that I serve in. First, you are not qualified to do so.
“This is the work of the party through the Secretary General Raphael Tuju And Chief Whip Ben Washiali. Secondly, I have no problem being removed from the Transport and Budget Committees as long as the correct procedure is followed.
“Bring it on. I serve in the committees at the pleasure of the party,” stated Kuria.
The controversial MP further pointed out that the Garissa lawmaker had in the past ensured that his proposals were never tabled in the National Assembly.
“You have frustrated all my private bills since 2014. None of my legislative proposals have ever been brought to the House.
From NGO’s Reform Bill (2014) to the Coffee Bill, the Interest Rates Bill And now the one you have sworn to defeat - Select Committee to support Matiang’i and his committee,” remarked the Gatundu South MP.
Duale disregards proposal
On February 5, Duale had opposed the proposal of creating a committee that will supervise Committee on Development that had been created through Executive Order one of 2019.
According to Kuria, he had suggested that a new parliamentary committee would oversee and oversight the newly created council that gives Interior CS Fred Matiang’i immense powers in government.
The Majority Leader had however stated that the changes made by President Uhuru Kenyatta did not have any impact on Parliament and that there would be no need to allocate similar roles that are already under various committees of parliament.
