Governor Mike Sonko has issued a statement after his dramatic arrest in Voi, Taita Taveta County.
In the statement, Sonko termed DPP Noording Haji's order to have him arrested as choreographed lies.
"I have read word by word the statement from the DPP that details reasons for my arrest and nothing gives me more confidence than leafing through it, knowing very well we have the facts to dismantle this choreographed lies," he said.
"I assure everyone that I shall not be intimidated and won’t be moved an inch into some political traps," he continued.
Sonko called out the DPP and EACC for hunting him down and arresting him arguing that they should have asked him to present himself in court.
Sonko held at EACC
"Let the DPP or EACC tell me which court we are going to as soon as possible and I will be there on time," Sonko stated.
The Nairobi County boss also refuted claims by the EACC that he was trying to run away before law enforcement officers arrested him.
"Why would l run away? To where and to do what? I am a Kenyan who is always on the move doing what's good for the people," he said.
At the moment the governor is being held at the EACC headquarters where he is being processed before he is arraigned in court.
