Worrying Details in Chebukati’s Letter on Raila Withdrawal

It was reported that Chebukati did not agree with the rest of the commissioners.

A section of political leaders has raised issue with the press statement issued by the IEBC on Wednesday regarding the presidential repeat election.

The IEBC had announced that repeat elections  would go on with the inclusion of NASA leader Raila Odinga and all other candidates who participated in the August 8 election.

Homa Bay Women Rep was among the first politicians who raised issue with the fact that the statement from the IEBC commissioners was not signed as is routine with such documents.

“Usually when we receive such statements from the IEBC, Wafula Chebukati will have signed, he hasn’t. The IEBC has become a tower of babel, we might be facing a situation where the commissioners did not agree and some of them decided to issue this statement,” Wanga stated during an interview on NTV.

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome also raised issue with the unsigned document but noted that people should not read too much.

“There is enough information to show the statement came from the IEBC but it is good practice to sign documents as serious as this one,” Wahome stated.

Pulselive.co.ke contacted the IEBC Communications Manager Andrew Limo who confirmed that the statement reflected the position agreed by all commissioners, including Chebukati.

Limo further stated that the signature was not mandatory given that some of the statements are usually time sensitive.

“We have said even before, because of time sometimes the signature may not be there was not split,” Limo assured.
